The educated veteran

About The educated veteran

I am a 51 year old veteran that is disabled and completing college in May. The Veteran Administration discovered that I had been in their system for 26 years before they notified me that they had a vocational rehab program for me. I am now completing that program and have a job in San Antonio Texas working for a financial planning office. I am located in Vancouver WA. 2450 miles from San Antonio, which is where the biggest part of my family is.

The problem is, the Veterans Adminstration will not help me to relocate to Texas for the job. They will however, reimburse me mileage at 14 cents per mile once I have moved, out of my own pocket. That comes to $345 when they decide to pay it.

I will graduate with a 3.45 average and I also have a scholarship to attend the Greenleaf Institute to earn a facilitators certificatoin to facilitate Servant Leadership seminars.

Is there anyone that can help me with my move back home? I do not have family here in the North West, and the family I do have in Texas are retired and on a limited budget, so asking them isn't possible. This is my chance to help people recover from this mess our country is in, and still make a decent living for myself to be able to retire in 12 to 15 years. I have lived on $885 per month for the past 3 years while in school, so it's not like I blew my last dollars on a graduation party. I only wished I could have spent a few dollars going to our banquet, but have missed that too.

I figure it will cost me $1500 to get home with renting a Uhaul trailer and driving home. Then I need an apartment for two months before I wll see a paycheck. Apartments run about $585 plus a $100 dollar deposit to move in. I can make it on my disability pay for food, but getting there and getting an apartment is the tough part.

If anyone can help this old veteran I would greatly appreciate it. I will agree to pay back what ever is loaned, and not asking for a handout. I just need to get home and go to work.

you can reply to jhennesay@hotmail.com

Thank you so much for any help at all,

sincerely,
